Who runs this site, what it is for, how it is funded and what it deliberately does not do.

What this site is for

TheoryTestAdvice.com helps people preparing for the Great Britain car theory test. It exists because most revision sites optimise for one thing — putting questions in front of you — and very few explain why an answer is right in a way that survives contact with a real road.

Every page on this site is built around a single promise:

Every page should help you notice, understand, remember or apply something that will make you a safer and better-prepared road user.

That means we would rather publish 300 questions with genuinely useful explanations than 3,000 with none.

What we are not

TheoryTestAdvice.com is an independent learning website. It is not operated, approved or endorsed by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA), the Driver and Vehicle Agency (DVA) or any government body. All questions and explanations on this site are written independently.

• We do not take theory-test bookings or payments. Book on GOV.UK.
• We do not reproduce the official DVSA revision question bank.
• We do not host DVSA hazard-perception clips.
• We do not claim that using this site guarantees a pass. Nothing can.

How the learning is designed

The site follows one repeating cycle rather than a list of quizzes:

1. Diagnose — find out what you already know.
2. Explain — one rule or decision at a time, in plain English.
3. Demonstrate — show it in a road situation.
4. Practise — answer questions without rereading first.
5. Retrieve — bring it back days later, before you forget it.
6. Review — correct the specific misunderstanding, not just the score.
7. Reassess — check it holds up in mixed conditions.

We also treat “mastered” as something you earn, not something you get for opening a page. A topic only counts as secure when you have answered accurately, on more than one day, with no unresolved misunderstanding still showing.

How the site is funded

The learning content is free. The site is intended to be supported by display advertising, and later by an optional paid ad-free upgrade with extra revision tools.

We have written rules for ourselves about where advertising can and cannot go:

• Never between a question and its answers, or beside answer controls.
• Never during a timed mock test or over a hazard-perception exercise.
• Never styled to look like a “continue”, “start” or “download” button.
• Always labelled, and always in space reserved before it loads so the page does not jump.

If a revenue change ever reduces test completion, comprehension or accessibility, the rule is that it gets reverted.

Accuracy and corrections

Road rules change. Every substantive page shows who wrote it, who checked it and when. Changes are recorded in the updates log.

If you spot something wrong, please tell us — factual complaints trigger an immediate review rather than waiting for the next scheduled one.
